About this painting: I originally painted a scene similar to this on a slate piece for a friend at least 35 years ago. After moving recently she realized that the slate had broken in transit and she was heartbroken. When she asked me to paint another one for her I told her I'd be up for the challenge. I say "challenge" because I haven't painted in this style for quite a long time. I currently favor more abstract approaches to painting. I chose to paint this scene on an 11x14 canvas board, and she can now choose whatever frame she wants for the painting. While this painting is a bit different than the original (I added Hydrangeas and a dramatic sky) I did like taking a step back to my old painting style and I may play with some more lighthouses on canvas, who knows!
