Paintings inspired by coastal scenes
I’m Cindy Bilbao, a coastal landscape artist working in acrylics and watercolor. I’m most inspired by watery places, everything from large bodies of water down to trickling streams and marshy wetlands. Nature has a profound, motivating affect on me. I love the idea of expressing in art something I’ve seen out in the landscape so that viewers may notice things that they may have otherwise missed.
Recently I’ve been very focused on working in my sketchbook. This type of work informs the work I do in my studio and helps my creativity immensely. I’ve found that I really love to capture the essence of a landscape inside my sketchbook where I’ll use a multitude of techniques to describe what I’m seeing. It’s inside my sketches that I relax my art and focus on expressive marks. It’s so freeing and enjoyable.
