Paintings inspired by coastal scenes
I’m Cindy Bilbao, a coastal landscape artist working in acrylics and watercolor creating paintings inspired by the movement, light and emotion of watery places-everything from large bodies of water down to the trickling streams and marshy wetlands. I love the idea of capturing in art something I’ve seen out in nature and my work reflects an intuitive connection to those watery places that I’m so strongly drawn to.
Recently I’ve been very focused on working in my sketchbook. This type of work informs the work I do in my studio and helps my creativity immensely. I’ve found that I really love to capture the essence of a landscape inside my sketchbook where I’ll use a multitude of techniques to describe what I’m seeing. It’s inside my sketches that I relax my art and focus on expressive marks. It’s so freeing and enjoyable.
